Boneo Equestrian Festival - 6 February 2010 |

What a wonderful Venue! I was so impressed with the undercover arena and adjoining courtyard so I took quite a few photos to show every-one.
Brett Parberry and Heinke Klimm gave very good clear classes showing us, through the riders, exactly what they were looking for at each stage of the horses training and why. There were other classes but I missed those.

Hound House Kennel
I have used one of these kennels for my Red Healer bitch for well over a year now.
I have found it to be extremely easy to collapse, pack and then re set-up when out competing. It fits very easily into my horse float with the gear as it lays almost flat when collapsed. Takes only 60 seconds roughly to set up or collapse.
I tend to use it quite a bit at home as well as it is light to pick up and move around the yard, depending on the weather and where I feel my little friend is best suited to be e.g. under the shade in Summer or out of the wind but in a sunny spot during the Winter.
I highly recommend these to any-one who wants a light weight kennel that is easy to pack up, store and move.
I haven't tried the door but I do feel it is a great idea and included the photo's so you know about it.

Heather Sansom - Equestrian Fitness |
| Why Shoulders Get Tense |
I read this article which I found to brilliant. Most students (including myself) tend to raise the shoulders during training when getting tense. This in turn affects the horse and Heather has some great suggestions such as
- Stretch your shoulders every chance you get.
- Do a minimum of 5min a day strengthening your core muscles
- Using facial release techniques
- Massage and/or release therapy
- Build up strength in back and shoulders
- Use relaxation techniques before you ride

Cardinia Riding Club |
Based just outside of Pakenham in Victoria, Australia, this small club in it's infancy has its home at the Lindawarra Equestrian Center. An indoor arena with seated public viewing area, under cover tie up area, hot/cold wash, small x-country course and SJ available make for good facilities when used. So far the club has focused heavily on Dressage with some SJ and members cover the full range within the Horse Riding Clubs Association Victoria (HRCAV). I would happily recommend this club especially for any-one wanting a more personal, quieter feel for their Rally's. |

Pakenham Upper Riding Club |
Based in Pakenham Upper in Victoria, Australia, this club is well established and shares its extensive grounds with the Pakenham Pony Club. A comprehensive Cross Country Course ranging from beginner to a very high standard, Multiple arenas and very comfortable club house all exist for member use at Rally's and Schooling Events. Being a larger club I happily recommend this club for those who love the larger groups and want to spread their focus equally between Jumping and Dressage. |

Light Tower Treatment |
This is a system based on the balance of negative ions and the effect they have on the amount of oxygen in the system of living creatures. I did have a chance to see this treatment demonstrated this morning (22/7/09) and I feel there is some merit in what it does and I could definitely feel the difference between a treated glass of water and one that wasn't. I didn't see a difference in a horse we partially treated and I do understand that we only did the treatment for 15min where it needed to be done approximately an hour. Would I use this system? At this stage I would not invest in the $ or time, however if it was supplied to me to trial I would. This review is more to let you know that it exists and if you are looking for an 'alternative' or 'natural' way to treat your horses (or yourself) then this may be for you. |

Draper Equine Therapy |
I purchased a set of 4 leg wraps (soft bandages) to use on Cappy as he had a bruised Tendon. These work by regulating temperature via a special fibre (holofiber/Celliant) woven through the fabric. They combat soreness and stiffness while promoting recovery and in some cases reduce pain.
I first put them on during the day in the stable and that evening the skin surfaces that had scabbing were raised but not sore or inflamed so it did appear that there was increased circulation. I tried the next day without the wraps and there was no change from overnight. I am now using them every day whilst he is stabled to promote the circulation in his legs along with any healing benefits they can offer.

Riding Gloves |
I use the Kieffer Riding Gloves (EAN-Nr: 20158, Item: Reithandschuhe MADRID). I find them very comfortable to wear and they seem to have a great grip. I am now onto my 5th pair and will continue to use these as long as they are available.
I highly recommend these. Note I no longer need to use 'Will grip' to hold my reins with my rather week hands!
I now purchase them on-line from Goodwood saddlery Phone 02 9519 8844 (Item Code: GLBKM) and find they have a fast efficient delivery system. |

Riding underclothing |
 |
I buy much of my riding underclothing from this business in Wangaratta. The owner also rides horses and has a great understanding of the issues faced by some riders with their underclothing. |
| |
|
- Underpants. I use the Calvin Klein seamless G-strings as I find these very comfortable in all weather conditions. No chaffing, rubbing, seams or any other problems. I always wear the lighter colours so they don't show through my jodhpurs. As an extra bonus they don't take up much room when packing my clothing so very easy to have in many pairs.
- Bra's. I use the highest possible 'reduced bounce' bra's that I can find. They are the type with the crossover at the back that is permanently sewn together with a lower strap to tighten the bottom of the Bra. They also have under wires. I will give you the brand when I purchase my next pair as I can't read the label at the moment. Since using these I no longer need to use a 'sports' bra as well as a sports top. They aren't lacey and feminine but they do the job and that is far more important I feel.
