June started coaching me when I was only 6 it was really great and such an opportunity because I lived in a family that everyone thought horses were those big scary things. But June took me under her wing and helped me ride. She let me ride one of her horses and stupidly the first time I got on I slid off the back but she helped me get on and I stayed on second time round I did fine and had the time of my life, she’s been helping me ever since. June has helped me find my own horse and work through issues like when my horse was scared of the donkeys next door and wouldn’t go near them, she worked me through it time and time again. I fell off my horse really bad once and lost all confidence. She helped me build it back up again, now try stop me do anything. I am taking a break from lessons at the moment because June taught me how to train on my own as well as everything else (she’s like wonder women). I’m now going to pony club once a month and riding my horse three to four times a week her name is sasha she is so gorgeous, but I will be going back for more lessons with June when its time for me to learn something new.

Parent Testimonial

Horses, they are those big animals with really big teeth right? When my daughter said she wanted to ride horses, I had no idea of where to go, who to talk to or even more importantly what to do. But someone was looking after me and I was lucky to meet June Lamb.  June is an excellent horsewoman and talked with me about horses, and before too long I was even able to gain the courage to pat one.  I was a mother who had no experience with horses or knowledge of what was required to equip, ride, feed or maintain a horse.

Even though my daughter's lessons were with June, June has the understanding that horse riding is not just about the rider, there needs to be support and knowledge from other family members.  Every lesson for Jess (my daughter) was a lesson for me too.  Learning where to place the saddle, learning how to put the bit in a horse's mouth, learning what mange looks like and a million other things that you just can't learn out of a book. Within 6 months of Jess having lessons with June, I knew as much as I needed to support my daughter in her riding.

June has the ability to work on multiple levels to ensure that the rider and the horse are looked after so everyone can enjoy riding. Her knowledge of horses is extensive, but its her ability to communicate at a level and speed that you can understand that has allowed me to enjoy my daughter's riding with her.

I would recommend June's riding lessons, in person or online, to anyone who wants to learn to ride and even more importantly for those parents who want to actively support their child in this new endeavor.

Karen and Tino 2008

Hello my name is Karen and I am the proud owner of two beautiful horses, Bec and Tino (short for Valentino).

I have known June for approximately six(6) years.  We first met when June agisted her horses on the property where I live.  What started out as a casual friendship, with short rides around the block and then floating out for trail rides, has developed into a strong friendship.

I remember the first time I took Tino out and tied him to the float, he stamped and poured and I could not get him to stop.  As I know now, he was testing me and he was winning the battle.  Anyway June just stood and watched and then she came over and asked me if I needed help.  “Are you kidding YES PLEASE”.  That was my very first lesson, Tino had to be asked three times to stop and then that was it, he has never done it again.  I was impressed (and very grateful).

Although I have been riding on and off for 20 years I consider myself a novice as I have never had any structured training or lessons.  I decided it was time to join Adult Riding, went to a couple of rallies and then started having private lessons with June.  I think Tino is a faster learner than me, however June assures me that he could not do it if I (me) did not teach him properly and when you think about it, it really does make sense.  Although he looks much better when June is riding him.

Up until I started having lessons I had always ridden with little or no contact on the bit.  Leaning to ride with contact has proven to be my greatest challenge so far.  There have been many times when I have just wanted to give up, thinking I will never get it or worst still that I am in some way going to damage my horse.  I was plagued with self doubt and lack of confidence.  What I have leant from June (So far) it that lessons are not just about riding, but so much more!  And June’s calm no nonsense approach has helped me conquer quite a few obstacles.

I love my lessons with June, I love the way my riding is improving and I love the relationship that continues to develop with Tino.  Tino trusts me and the time we spend learning together strengthens our relationship.  This is all down to June, she has and is still equipping me with the skills and knowledge to become a better more competent rider and I am proud to call her my friend.

The attached photo is a picture of Tino and myself at our first dressage competition (yes I know I’m looking down) I was having the test called and when the caller yelled out “change diagonals” so I looked down to see which one I was on.  Before meeting June and starting lessons there is no way I would ever have considered competing with Tino.

I wish June every success in her equine endeavors and business pursuits.  I am only too happy to recommend June to anyone needing assistance/help with their horse/s.  June has not only taught me to be a better horse person, but her quite confidence has instilled in me the determination and commitment to pursue my own equine goals & interests.
